About Taryn

Taryn Giles is a multidisciplinary artist based in New Brunswick, Canada.

Deeply inspired by the natural world, her work reflects a thoughtful engagement with the flora, fauna, and landscapes that surround her. Giles earned her Bachelor of Fine Arts with distinction from Mount Allison University, where she developed a strong foundation in both traditional and contemporary art practices.

Working across a range of media—including acrylic, watercolour, textiles, and woodblock printing—Giles explores the intersection of abstraction and realism. Her practice is defined by an intuitive approach to colour relationships and expressive mark-making, resulting in dynamic compositions that invite quiet reflection on our connection to nature.

The Impact series

“The series is a personal reflection of my impact as an artist on the environment and wild spaces that inspire me. As humans, we are a part of nature but also have the power to damage it in ways other living things don’t so I wanted to hold myself accountable for my place in that. The series is meant as both a personal reckoning and a challenge to find ways to create that are more sustainable.”

In the series: Painted Loon, Stumped and Flashed-Barred Owl.
